The last few days God has placed Matthew 25:1-13 on my heart. It all started when I was doing my quiet time. I put in the new Merchant Band CD and grabbed my bible. I had no clue what to read so I played bible roulette. I opened my bible and Matthew 25 caught my eye. I read over it a few times to get it in my heart. Then out of the blue my CD player which is on random picks song number 12. Now song number 12 is called wake me up. The fear of God came into my room when that song started playing. I got on my face and just listened to the song. After it ended I read Matthew 25 again this is what it says:
Matthew 25:1-13
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
An urgency came in my heart to get oil so i can be ready. To have the oil of intimacy so my lamp doesn’t run out in the end. To have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ so He doesn’t say to you “Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.” That perhaps is the scariest thing I could imagining happening to someone. We as the church and as a generation need to be ready so we are not swept away in confusion. We need to have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Trying to get oil from other people or buying it will not work. We need to obtain it ourselves.
Shawn Blanc wrote an excellent post on this. It confirmed so much on what God was speaking to me. So I encourage you to read it. God is coming faster than we think. Are we truly ready.
